I have coined the phrase Core-sound with all three of these definitions of CORE in mind:
- The tough central part of various fruits, containing the seeds. So the ‘seed’ of your sound
- The part of something that is central to its existence or character.
- The part of your body often referred to as ‘the Core’ (A set of abdominal and back muscles)
Core-sound is what I call the sound that freely and naturally would flow out of your instrument if you didn’t add unnecessary physical or emotional tension.
It is the voice where instinct and learned skill is integrated and all parts of you is vibrant and responsive.
Core-sound is the sound that is always radiating from your personal center.
It is always fully connected to all of you, completely personal and effortlessly unique and powerful.
When you find and experience what is feels like to sing in Core-sound you will never want to sing in any other way.
It is an ephemeral experience of your own voice resonating with simultaneously all of you and everything around you, and it is the most exciting feeling of being in some form of heightened neutral. A place from where everything can grow and expand.
I approach finding this Core-sound from a holistic point of view. By that I mean that ALL of you need to grow to find and consistently have, Core-sound.
The physical, mental, emotional and spiritual sides of your being have to be realized, aligned and balanced out.
What are the things we need to do, think, feel and believe in order to be the best possible versions of ourself and truly inhabit and own our voice?
'Anette has brought my voice to a whole new level over the past few years.
By establishing a strong foundation and support system and breaking old habits, I'm able to sing with more power and range than I thought was possible. She really understands the mechanics of the voice, and she teaches this in a simple way. She is well-equipped for any style of music, particularly alternative rock!!'
